This was the second time to watch this movie and impressed me somewhat differently.
Personally, the most interesting part of this movie was that the relationship between Harvey Milk and Scott Smith. James Franco, who played Scott Smith, was not sure why there’s so little footage of Smith and so little known about Harvey’s former lover.
“It is weird because after Harvey was killed Scott was like the main torchbearer of Harvey’s memory. He was even called ‘the Widow Milk’ even though they were broken up when Harvey died.” (http://movies.about.com/od/milk/a/james-franco.htm)
I think Scott gave him the push Harvey needed. Harvey was unsatisfied with his life and wanted to make a change so they decided to move to San Francisco together. It’s no exaggeration to say that he would not be accomplished his goal without Scott Smith.
Toward the end of the movie, Harvey made a phone call to Scott and they talked in the dim light of dawn quietly for a while, which was sweet moment and loved that scene in this film.
